I've been playing play money on Pokerstars. It's fun, but I'm not sure if I'm learning much. I've read a lot of poker articles and I'm trying to apply what I learned. It seems like people on the play money tables are either taking it unbelievably seriously except that some of them like to just shove all in over and over even though they lose most of the time. Am I learning anything, do you think?
Should I just get over myself and play for real money? I can afford to lose a hundred, it won't be a tragedy or anything.

Hi princesspoptart and welcome. Fee free to introduce yourself on the into thread. I think you have observed correctly about the play money tables. You need to play against player for actual money, not play chips if you want to learn any poker psychology at all. Thanks to the microstakes, you can play for 1.50 at a time at NL5 or go full stacked for only 5.00. It's a cheap way to get a feel for winning and losing money.

Yeah, I agree. Some of the micro-stakers treat it like play money anyway. My husband takes it very seriously, like these are the bad players we want to play against. He tries to get me to play for practice, but I prefer to play live where I can see right away whose a fish and who knows what their doing.
