When I was a kid we were in the Vietnam war. My grandmother was afraid my older cousin would get drafted and have to go. Thought it was foolish to get involved in Asia at all.
She was an old school anti-war Republican.
All the history they taught then was from one war to the next. I thought that we were always fighting someone somewhere. I believed the tale that it was because of our greatness that people would always want to fight us.
Now I see that it is our insistence on meddling in other countries' business that keeps getting us into wars.
Gawd know what's next.
